Late Arrivals to School
Mr R Cronin
Arriving in school late is disruptive to the learning of all students and not just the students who arrive in school
late. It also means that the students who arrive in school late do not always get vital information relating to that
particular school day.
With effect from Monday 7th December we will be starting random checks operated by the Senior Leadership
Team and should your son/daughter arrive in school late on this day they will be required to attend a same day
detention at either brunch or lunch time.
Please support the school in ensuring that your son/daughter leaves home each morning in plenty of time to
arrive in school before the start of the school day at 8.40am.
Buses
Mrs A Lindley
I would like to take the opportunity to apologise to parents of students who travel to school on the buses
provided by Derbyshire County Council following the confusion over the start of this academic year.
This issue has now been resolved and students travelling from Whitwell have been allocated over 2 buses
instead of the 3 buses that previously serviced the village; this is due to a reduction in the number of students
travelling from this area.
Can I remind parents that there is a code of conduct for the behaviour of students using the bus service provided
by the Local Authority and failure by students to observe this could result in them being removed from the bus;
either on a temporary or permanent basis.
Further details can be obtained from the Local Authority’s transport team and there is a link to information
available on the school website.

Mission Complete
Mr B Emment
Thank you to all staff who were kind enough to sponsor
the Namibia Bound Team. (if you haven’t and still want
to please do.)
I am very proud and pleased to say that we managed
to complete 17 laps of a 4 mile route around Clowne in
24 hours making a grand total of 68 Miles completed.
Thankfully the weather was kind to us. We were
accompanied by parents and spurred on by passing
motorist who tooted to show their support.
On our final lap at just after 1pm on Saturday we were
joined by Anne Western the leader of Derbyshire County
Council, Anne has always been a keen supporter of the
school and has represented the people of Barlborough
for many years. This was a great boost for the team and
got a mention at the official Namibia Bound 16 launch
on Wednesday afternoon.
Thanks again and when you see Lauren Sabin, Lewis
Salter, Tameika Roberts, Lucy McGregor, Aaron
Chambers Smith or Patrick Wilson give them a pat on
the back they deserve it!
