r demanding applications

HMT has also demonstrated its capabilities through specialised products. Among these was the manufacture of arbor coil bends in ASTM A335 P9 grade steel for a state-operated refinery. Measuring 101.4 mm OD x 5.74 mm wall thickness, with a bend diameter of 3,000 mm and radius of 1,500 mm, the project illustrated the company’ s ability to take on requirements outside conventional straight tube production. Surface treatment and heat treatment have been another focus. HMT has invested in controlledenvironment bright annealing technology, enabling improved surface finishes and mechanical properties while eliminating the need for acid treatment in the process. Controlled temperature, cooling and inert atmosphere conditions are particularly valuable for products destined for demanding environments such as refineries, petrochemical facilities and power plants. The result is a production platform designed to combine scale with flexibility – whether the requirement is for conventional tubing, heavywall products, long lengths or specialised material grades.
A strong position in heat exchangers and boilers Heat exchanger and boiler applications occupy an important place within HMT’ s business. The company’ s seamless tubes are used in shell-andtube heat exchangers, condensers, air-fin coolers and boilers, where the performance of individual tubes can directly influence the reliability and service life of the complete equipment. These products ultimately operate across some of industry’ s most demanding sectors: oil and gas, refining, chemicals and petrochemicals, fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, sugar processing and power generation. The latter has become an especially active market domestically. One capability that gives HMT an advantage in this field is its ability to manufacture tubes in lengths of up to 34 metres. Long-length tubing can be particularly valuable to heat exchanger manufacturers by accommodating equipment designs while reducing the need for additional joints. The company’ s involvement extends considerably beyond heat transfer equipment. Its tubes and pipes are also supplied for automotive and locomotive applications, defence, instrumentation, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and other engineering sectors. This diversity is supported by HMT’ s broad material offering. Its stainless steel portfolio includes seamless and welded tubes and pipes as well as U-tubes, special shapes and bright-annealed products. Carbon and alloy steel production similarly covers seamless tubes and pipes, U-tubes and products for specialised applications.
Quality throughout the production chain For tubes and pipes entering critical service, manufacturing capability must be supported by systems capable of verifying the finished product. HMT therefore places quality assurance throughout the manufacturing sequence, from incoming raw material through cold working, heat treatment, inspection, packing and dispatch. The company holds ISO 9001:2015 certification and PED accreditation, while its manufacturing and quality systems are designed around applicable national and international codes as well as projectspecific customer requirements. Importantly, HMT’ s quality control department operates independently from the manufacturing shop.
Precise temperature control, effective cooling, and manipulation of inert gas atmosphere make it perfect for harsh settings including petrochemical plants, power plants, and refineries. www. heat-exchanger-world. com Heat Exchanger World October 2026
