3 Great Relaxation Techniques
1. Deep Breathing
2. Get Active
3. Crank The Tunes!
Breathing is easily one of and if not, the best stress relieving technqiues there is. The reason is quite simple. If you ever notice how you breathe when you are relaxed, it is very deep and calm and soothing. The reason why deep breathing is so relaxing is because your body is trying to get back to that feeling of relaxation.
A message is sent to your brain which is sent to you body, and that message is to relax. Symptoms of stress begin to reduce such as a high heart rate, or sweatiness.
The deep breathe will also begin to clear your brain of the stressor that is causing the symptoms. Breathing tends to get rid of bad and stressful thoughts.
Moving around can have the same effects on your body with the exception of a high heart rate, sweatiness and heavy breathing. Moving helps your body to forget about the stressor that is currently affecting it.
The movement does not have to be vigorous. At all really. It can be a simple as walking. Yoga even does the trick. There's just something about being active that takes your mind off the stressor and puts it into what you're currently doing.
Movement releases the feel-good chemicals that all exercise releases. These chemicals help the body to fight depression and anxiety.
What teenager doesn't love music? There may even be a reason why teenagers love music so much and that is because it is a great stress reliever.
Hold on. We're not talking about that song that involves trashing your ex's house. We're talking about the violin and the piano.
Studies have shown that soothing music, especially classical have an effect on the brain that is similar to that of any other stress relieving technique. The chemicals that help you to calm down and take your mind off what is stressing you are released when listeing to soothing music or even chirping birds for that matter.
