My name is Domnica (Dodo) and in the last couple of days I did a couple of researches about one of the project’s theme “How to be happier” and I found a bunch of videos and articles which kind of gave me an idea about what happiness is and how can I make myself happier. On the first hand, happiness does not resume at feeling good all the time, happiness does not resume at being rich and being able to afford everything you want at a certain moment and happiness does not resume at a final destination either. “So, WHAT IS happiness?” Is the question that people kept asking over the centuries. According to Acacia Parks, Ph.D is Assistant Professor of Psychology at Hiram College, happiness is the ability to control how you feel on a day to day basis with practice and long habits that are meant to fulfil your life. It all depends on you, on the choices you make, on the way you choose to think about a specific stuff and on the way you choose to see the world. You are the only one who can truly make yourself happy. You can also read more and find new details about this in the link below. https://www.happify.com/public/science-of-happiness/ On the other hand, not only Acacia Parks is willing to share her idea about what happiness truly is, but also other people too, one of them being Oprah also. Beside this article I have also watched a couple of videos and Ted talks about happiness, some of them more specific and useful than others, but these are the links to the ones I thought were the best and helped me the most with the uncertain definition of the word “happiness”. https://youtu.be/78nsxRxbf4w The first video, that I will share, will contain a TedTalk in which Mr. Jacqueline explains us how easy is to be happy. She is is saying that the key to being happy everyday resumes to giving back to the world, volunteering, sharing and being kind to other people. She is also the woman behind a project realized in many American schools, in which children and teenagers are determined to be kind and do positive actions for the world everyday. This is what Jacqueline considers to maintain us happy every day. https://youtu.be/UtBsl3j0YRQ The second video is also a TedTalk in which David S. speaks about how we can all be happy by being grateful about what we have given and about all the opportunities that appear in our lives. All you gotta do is to “STOP, LOOK, GO” just like in crossing a street. We have to stop, to look around, become aware of the opportunities that we have, to be grateful for them and to go forward. A grateful world is a happy world. https://youtu.be/RLTgnOuYb6o In the last video I chose to share with you, Oprah tells us about the 3 steps that will keep ourselves happy in life. The number one is “KNOWING WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU WANT”. You must have a vision of you life and know in which direction you are going. You have to control your life because otherwise the life will control you. Number two is “YOU MUST FIND A WAY TO SERVE”. As Martin Luther King said “ Not everybody can be famous but everybody can be great because greatness is determined by service”.
