Tougaloo College Owens Health and Wellness Center in partnership
with The Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation, hosted a
groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of the construction
phase of the TC Squared (Tougaloo College-Tougaloo Community)
Walking Trail. This event was held on Thursday, February 27, at 3:00 pm
and celebrated the efforts of this partnership to create a healthier
campus and community.!
!
The TC Squared Walking Trail is part of the TC Squared Wellness
Initiative, made possible through a grant from the Blue Cross & Blue
Shield of Mississippi Foundation. The Blue Cross & Blue Shield of
Mississippi Foundation works to build a healthy Mississippi through
targeted grant making throughout the state, focusing on health and
wellness initiatives to support Mississippi’s schools, communities,
colleges, and universities.!
!
The walking trail, once completed, will be at the front of campus near
the Owens Health and Wellness Center and the College’s pond within
Donald Park, of which both face West County Line Road. This one-third
mile walking trail that will connect to campus sidewalks will also have
five outdoor fitness stations where walkers can engage in activities such
as squats, stretching, pull-ups, dipsm and more.!
