The points used in TTT correlate with points used in traditional Chinese
medicine which dates back over 5 000 years in treatments like acupuncture,
acupressure and shiatsu.
It is likely that other points could be used, however, we know from
experience that the points used in TTT are both highly functional and easy
to remember, therefore, we stick to them.
Why Two Rounds?
A TTT session is complete only after doing the tapping sequence twice.
Our experience shows that change starts during the first round of tapping.
The breathing between the rounds also calms down the nervous system.
The second round of tapping often moves emotions, images or symptoms
further away, or dissolves them completely.
Washing Needs Rinsing
During the genocide in Rwanda, first and foremost men and boys were
killed, since they were presumed to become soldiers and ght back. Due to
this at lot of our workshops in Rwanda are done for the widows of the
genocide.
At one time we were conducting a workshop in the shadow of a big mango
tree next to the school in a village called Ngororero, high up on one of the
thousand hills of Rwanda. Everybody was sitting on the ground, and people
gathered to see what was going on. Some were laughing and pointing at us,
commenting about the tapping gestures. A group of children in school
uniforms were giggling.
When we had gone through the procedure a couple of times, one of the
widows asked: “Why should we do the tapping protocol twice? Seems
unnecessary doing the same thing again.”
Our colleague Robert Ntabwoba answered: “You know, when you are wash-
ing clothes, first you put them in water with soap and shrug them, don’t
you?”
The women nodded their heads, confirming what he had said.
“That is the first round of tapping, ok? Then you take out the clothes from
the soapy water and wring them. The wringing is like the breathing between
