Step 2: Now we’re going to go all the way through your worst case scenario journey. I’ll say it again: WORST CASE SCENARIO In a moment I’m going to ask you to describe, scene-by-scene, all of the things that you worry about in relation to flying. Chances are, that includes the plane crashing. This is really important: It’s not the worst case that you think is ever likely to happen to you. It’s the worst journey you could ever possibly have. I’m asking you to describe this once, in detail, so that you never have to worry about it again. One more thing, you should describe this in the present tense (as if it is actually happening now). This might make it easier for you... Imagine that you are on the phone to your friend (or me) and describing what’s happening. Tell them where you are, what you’re doing and how you are feeling. It might sound a bit like this: “It’s the night before and I’m packing my bags, feeling nervous about getting on the plane” That’s enough. Just access each scene you worry about and describe it as though it’s happening now, then move onto the next scene: “I’m getting out of bed feeling worried about getting on the flight”... “I’m waiting for the taxi, feeling anxious”...
