The Journey Technique™ for Flying Phobias
Here’s a simple way to beat a fear of planes, trains and any other kind of
journey. It’s a very straightforward and easy to use technique that you can do
at home. It’s best if you can get someone to help you, but if you can’t find
anyone then feel free to give it a shot anyway.
To keep the explanations simple, I’m going to describe how to do this process
for a flying phobia. The process is exactly the same for any travelling phobia
so you can just substitute your own mode of transport for the word ‘flying’
below.
Here we go!
Getting Started
If you’ve got a flying phobia then you probably find yourself looking for
excuses to avoid flying. Maybe you worry about being asked to fly for work.
Holidays come around and you’re looking for excuses to keep it local. You’re
losing touch with loved ones and starting to feel trapped by your own mind.
It's not fun to have a flying phobia.
People tell you that there’s nothing to worry about and you know that they’re
right… but something makes your heart race at the very idea of getting on an
aeroplane.
Let’s fix that together now.
Step 1:
Ask yourself this question: “At what point do I start worrying about flying?”
When I book the tickets?
When I pack the bags?
On the way to the airport?
What’s the very first scene you imagine in your head that lets you know it’s
time to start doing your flying phobia?
Got it?
Ok, next step.
