Having been involved in the YLD since 2009, I can personally say that my involvement has given me more than I could ever put in. As the incoming president, I am excited to continue the many community events and volunteer opportunities established by the YLD. If you are new to the YLD or just looking to get more involved as a young lawyer, I encourage you to get involved in the many opportunities provided by the YLD. If you prefer to connect by giving back to the community, the YLD offers programs like the John F. Germany “Read to Dream” Young Readers Initiative, Family Forms Clinic, Holidays in the New Year, Steak and Sports Day, Wills for Heroes, Law Week, and the Mock Trial Competition. These programs offer opportunities to give back to those in need, often with nothing more required than showing up and lending a helping hand! If you want to connect by growing professionally, the YLD offers programs like the Coffee at the Courthouse Judicial Shadowing Program, the State Court Trial Seminar, and the Thirteenth Circuit Mentoring Program.
