Get ready Hawkesbury ... it ’ s showtime !

It ’ s that time of year again - Hawkesbury residents are venturing out after the recent lockdowns and the 135th Hawkesbury Show is sure to be on the list of “ must do ” events .
The ups and downs of COVID-19 lockdowns has led to many events being cancelled , however , plans are well on track for this year ’ s show which will run from 6 - 8 May .
Your admission ticket covers a range of free activities and entertainment with access to all pavilions , the main arena ’ s spectacular entertainment , commercial displays , stage entertainment and livestock sheds .
The combined Emergency Services display together with the RAAF and Hawkesbury City Council is a favourite destination for both young and old . The Taste of Hawkesbury will be back with local producers displaying their goods . Local butchers will be competing for bragging rights when the sausage and burger competitions are judged on Friday .
Around the grounds during the day , you will be entertained with sheep shearing demonstrations , sheep dog exhibition , reptile show and racing pigs . Another popular activity is the sand sculpturing display and children ’ s workshops .
The stage will be abuzz with dancers for the three days and a new HipHop competition will take place on the stage on Friday night ; don ’ t miss these dancers competing for Hawkesbury Show ’ s first ever HipHop Champion .
Colourful fireworks will light up the sky on Friday and Saturday nights , along with Pitt Town ’ s own Freestyle Kings performing their amazing motorbike stunts . Woodchopping takes place on Friday and Saturday nights in the main arena , with women ’ s woodchop taking the centre stage on Friday .
Last year ’ s Hawkesbury Wheelie Bin Race had the crowd cheering for their favourites and this will return with big dollars on the line for the winners . Check out our Facebook page for registration details .
Animals make up a huge part of our show , and this year is no different . The best poultry , cats , rats , dogs , aviary birds , alpacas , donkeys , cattle , sheep , goats , ducks , horses , reptiles and rabbits will be a feast for the eyes .
A new pavilion housing alpacas , sheep and goats together with displays of spinning , weaving , felting and shearing provides further entertainment . If you fancy walking an alpaca , make sure you get to the new pavilion on the Sunday .
The ever-popular Lego section is moving to a new space - this year ’ s feature is New Heights , and the larger area will allow some big structures .
In the Philip Charley pavilion you will find lapidary , paper craft , woodwork , orchids , decorated cakes , knitting , honey , patchwork , cacti , jams , agriculture , wool and cross stitch … the range of art , crafts , horticulture and agriculture is dynamic and astounding .
They represent a true taste and picture
of our beautiful Hawkesbury .
The Auxiliary will be selling tickets for their popular raffle , and they will also be at Richmond Marketplace on 6 and 7 April promoting the show .
The usual rides , showbags and favourite foods will all be back .
Community Corner will be home to volunteers from RuffTRACK , please support this local not for profit group who help young people in our community .
We also recommend that patrons catch the train as Clarendon Station is right across the road from our Gate 1 entry . Free parking will hopefully keep traffic flowing .
In the interests of health and safety of all visitors , please place your waste in the appropriate bins . We thank the RFS volunteers who do a great job in keeping the show grounds tidy , but please help where you can .
The HDAA committee and management are continually working closely with the relevant authorities to ensure patrons can enter the grounds with minimal holdups , but please be patient .
The volunteers and staff have been working tirelessly to ensure that show goers can enjoy all the fun and excitement that they have experienced in previous years .

The official grand opening of the Show is being held in the Main Arena at 1pm on Saturday followed by the Grand Parade .
