sewing
machine
(or plan
ahead
and buy a
narrower
board in
the first
place) . Sand down the edges of the platform well, as your legs (and kids) will likely be under there. Drill
3/8″ holes in the platform matching the spacing of the bolts. Remember, measure twice, cut/drill
once! Then raise the platform on the bolts and secure with the washer and nuts.
6) Place your sewing machine on the platform and twist the locknuts until the machine is flush with the table top. It’s a good idea to put some
duct tape or bolt caps on the bottom of the bolts if ever think your legs (or
kids) will ever accidentally hit it.
The table at the top of the post is mine. Check out more real life pictures
of the underside of my table on my blog.
Note: if you look at the tables online, you will see that the DIYer also
drilled a hole so that the sewist could use the knee lifter bar.
Thanks to Jackie W. for sending in this chart Schmetz Needles are starting to colour code
their needles! Great news.
Donations Needed
One of our members, Barb D. was speaking to Ann
Elliot from the United Church in town. The ladies
there are making reusable sanitary napkins to be
sent to third world or underprivileged countries.
They are constantly looking for terry cloth, flannel
sheets or similar absorbant fabric. ANY used towels, sheets or unwanted fabric would be more than
welcome. I told her I would get the word out to the
ladies at guild... some of us might have flannel fabric pieces we aren't using, or worn sheets and towels we were going to throw out. They are also looking for any thread and velcro that people may not
want anymore. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. If you can, please bring to our meetings
and give to Barb.
