Other Artists in the Harlem Renaissance Rennaisance

Physical art was also extremely important during this time as well. Augusta Savage was a very well-known artist during this time. She was a sculptor who was barely getting by for most of her life. Her art was never suppose to have any political meaning behind it. Savage created a community center to help foster kids creative potential.
Savage was best known for a couple of her works. Gamin was a sculpture she made that depicted a small boy. In this sculpture the young boy does not look sad but he does not look happy. Another one of Savage's sculptures, the Harp shows twelve people in the shape of a harp. The Harp shows that everyone is equal no matter what.
