By Sachin Kumar Mishra. (GP 25) On the day of induction Director, Akhil Ahmed Syed elevated about in-house activities of the academy where all 40 trainees will compete on various events to inculcate team spirit among the trainees. When he is explaining about the necessity of team spirit I never paid any attention at that time. On the same day evening we all trainees have been asked to muster at place of muster point and divided into four groups, namely PORT, STARBOARD, FORECASTLE and QUARTERDECK. During my schooling days though we are divided in to different house, but names of houses used to be of prominent personalities across India. But here in CAAMN the names for houses looks something typical and different. Later I happened to learn that they are the different parts of a Merchant ship and felt very appropriate name for the houses related to the industry where our basic training was given. As the weeks are passing, not even a single event was conducted. I used feel how the things are going to be? One fine day the Estate Administrative Officer announced during evening muster that coming Saturday the competition of Cross Country (Running for a total of 5 kilo meters distance) will be conducted and all team members must participate in the event. The event is going to be conducted sharp at 6 am. We have only 7 days for practicing of running. Our training schedule was so tight that hardly we got any time to practice for running. Late in the evening around 10 minutes we used to get time for practicing the running. Some of my co-trainees are very serious about competition and some as usual as I am.
