HANDS CALL Hands Call Edition 1 | Page 4

On previous day ie. Friday evening after muster we have been marched to the route of cross country by walk. During this I observed the ground which we have to run is not an even ground as what I saw on sports channel where such events of cross country being telecasted. The terrain that we have to run is uneven for atleast 1.5 kilometers. When I asked about the same the event coordinator smiled and said the life of seafarer terrain was also same and uneven. Slowly the clouds on eyes are faded and I realised why my instructors shown me the videos of merchant ships in rough weather on very first day of training. On the day of event we all assembled at the starting point of Cross Country. Our PT Rig has been inspected by event coordinator for spotlessness. Thank God I am saved from that as my PT Rig was perfect. Exactly at 6 am. The flag waved to indicate start of the run. I sprinted forward along with all my other trainees and very soon we crossed the main entrance of our campus. Still I remember that I was initially 10 th person running ahead of others and felt that I can cross all 9 and reach to front. But lack of my practice, skill in running, sustaining of energy, maintenance of pace all together made me to drop to 20 th position by the time half distance covered. Of course finally I finished the event and not satisfied about my position in the competition. But the event opened my eyes about the profession which is laying ahead of me. I learned that to be successful in life I should not be casual. I must be serious as the life ahead of me is not a well laid path. Thanks to CAAMN.
