Meals and Snacks

Breakfast
Parents may send a breakfast snack with their child( ren). During the school year, the breakfast program is available for purchase each day school is in session at all elementary schools. Payment for breakfast will be handled in the same manner as school lunches. Free and reduced prices will be in effect. Contact your elementary school food service department for more information.
Lunch
Children attending non-school days and the summer program will need to bring a lunch from home. A beverage will be provided. A morning and afternoon snack will be served.
Snacks
Adventure Connection provides a snack for children enrolled after school, and in the morning and afternoon for those enrolled on non-school days and in the summer programs. If food is brought from home to share with others( i. e., for special occasions) it must be commercially prepared and packaged.

Dress

Daily, children must be adequately dressed for indoor and outdoor play( jackets, boots, hats, gloves, snow pants, socks, etc). We highly encourage that children bring sunglasses, hats and long-sleeve shirts for outdoor activities to help minimize sun exposure. Clothes should be labeled to avoid mix-ups.
If children are in attendance, they will need to participate in outdoor activities. Staff ratios do not allow for some children to remain inside.
Tennis shoes are a must for gym and are recommended for daily wear. Sandals, flip-flops, etc., are not appropriate for our active indoor and outdoor program.“ Heelies”( shoes with wheels) are not allowed for safety reasons.
Some field trips and special events may require special clothing; please be sure to read all flyers, calendars and / or other information sent to you or posted at the sites so you can be prepared for all events.
All youth must wear their Adventure Connection / Epic Summer T-shirts on summer field trips and are highly encouraged to wear T-shirts over their swimwear to help prevent sunburn on outdoor swim / water activities and field trips.

Emergency Closings

All delays in school opening, early dismissal of school or emergency school closings will be announced on WCCO Radio AM- 830 and the District’ s web site( www. isd622. org). We strongly urge you to have a back-up plan in place prior to an emergency closing.
If school has a delayed start, Adventure Connection / Epic Summer will be closed for the before-school session. After school care will open as usual unless administration announces otherwise.
If school is closed for the day, Adventure Connection / Epic Summer programs will also be closed.
If there is an early dismissal, Adventure Connection / Epic Summer programs will be closed for the after-school session.
If a school has a delayed start, an early dismissal, or closes due to a power, water, or other building emergency, the Adventure Connection / Epic Summer site at that school will be closed for the same period of time.
Because closings do not reduce our staff costs or operating costs, credits will not be given.
