Security As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, Adventure Connection will be putting some changes into place beginning with the first day of school. We will be utilizing the same technology that the schools use during the day, to open doors for families to enter. Morning Drop-off Adventure Connection/Epic Summer opens at 6:30 a.m. Although our staff may arrive before 6:30 a.m. to prepare for the day, they are unable to provide care for your child until the official start time of 6:30 a.m. The clock on the program’s iPad is the official time our program follows for opening and closing. S E C U R I T Y Signing In and Out Adventure Connection/Epic Summer requires that parents/guardians sign their child(ren) in and out of the program daily. If your child arrives when there is an activity away from the main room, you are responsible for taking your child to join the group. Children will not be released until they have been signed out. If you don’t sign your child in or out, you may be assessed a finder’s fee. If you consistently fail to sign your child in or out, your child services may be terminated. Release of Children Your child will be released only to people listed on the emergency information form. In an emergency you may call to inform the staff if someone other than those listed will pick up your child. Identification may be required for verification. Children may be released to a sibling 13 years or older as long as all normal permissions are in place. That is, the sibling must be listed on the emergency form as someone who can pick up the child and must either be known to staff or have a picture ID. Late Pick Up Children must be picked up no later than the program’s closing time of 6:00 p.m. The program’s iPad is the official time our program follows for opening and closing. Beginning at 6:00 p.m., late charges will automatically be assessed. These fees will be charged to your account. If you have an emergency and must be late, please notify the staff so they are aware and can reassure your child. (Late fees still apply). It is important to have a friend or relative prepared to cover for you and be listed on the emergency form in the event that you cannot be at the site by 6:00 p.m. If you have not called the site by 6:00 p.m. and staff cannot reach you, staff will begin calling the emergency contacts listed on your child’s emergency form. If a child remains at the site at 7:00 p.m. and you (or the contacts listed on the emergency form) have not been reached, the police will be called to assist. If you are consistently late (three or more occurrences), late fees double and your child care services may be terminated. Personal Property All items brought to Adventure Connection/Epic Summer should be labeled. We discourage students from bringing toys/items from home. Youth are not allowed to bring (or use) cell phones, personal laptops, iPads, or the like to Adventure Connection/Epic Summer. The program is not responsible for lost or damaged personal belongings. Custody In the event that a court ordered legal custody situation develops whereby a parent or parents are not allowed to pick up their children without your consent, we need a legal document proving that you have legal custody and that (name and relationship) does not have a legal right to pick up your child while at Adventure Connection/ Epic Summer. This legal document will need to be delivered to the site manager (to be kept in your child’s file). Adventure Connection/Epic Summer cannot refuse to release a child to his/her natural/legal parent without a court order. Transportation Parents/guardians are responsible for transportation to the site for before school care and back home at the end of the day. District 622 policy prohibits employees from transporting children. Child Protection Adventure Connection/Epic Summer staff are mandated by law to report suspected cases of child abuse, neglect or sexual harassment. 14
