One of Nebraska ’ s earliest breweries , it was founded 1859 and in 1861 became “ Metz Bros . Brewing Co .” Added text is “ Omaha ’ s Favorite Beer ” with smaller text apparently referring to a South Dakota agent as “ John Theber , Agt . Deadwood ”. Superb color . Glossy , Exc . and rare . Unlike the previous button scene of donkey tossing woman , on this version she straddles the donkey with her hands grasping its ears . Reads “ Souvenir Independence ( likely Missouri ) Street Fair Sept 27 / 28-29 ” but design is off center so lower text can only be seen on the side curl as “ A Hot Time In The Old Town ”. Neatly pen notated on back paper “ 1899 Gert Rigby ”. Off center as made but superb color and NM . Only example known to us with this imprint . Rare . See next lot . “ Montamara Festo ” and below are the dates “ July 2-3-4-5-6 .” This 1913 event was the second road race in the Lakeview area of Tacoma , later renamed Pacific Coast Speedway . In 1912-13 it was a dirt track and from 1914-1922 it was a board track . Trivial reverse oxidation . Cello is glossy and Exc . Rare . ( I ) $ 200.00 469 . POCKET MIRROR ADVERTISES THE “ INDIAN SPRING FRAME MOTORCYCLE ” C . 1941 . 2.75 ” oval , no maker . Rider in jacket , tie and helmet speeds along with three World War II era fighter airplane silhouettes above each of his shoulders . Promoted by Indian Motorcycle Co . as “ serving on the war front ” and on the homefront as “ helping conserve vital gasoline , oil and tires .” Some tiny curl edge age dots but just two barely seen from front view . Minor oxidation on collet . Silvering 100 % intact . Some loss of cello gloss but seen only in reflected light . VF . Rare . ( I ) $ 200.00 470 . LINDBERGH 1927 ( 4 ) “ PLUCKY LINDY ” BUTTONS AND ( 2 ) “ WELCOME LINDY ” BUTTONS . Each 1.25 ” and five of six have a W & H back paper . Bunting , bows , horseshoes , 4-leaf clover , rabbit ’ s foot , wishbone , holly with berries , the American flag and stars and stripes- it ’ s all covered on these six buttons celebrating his NY to Paris flight . The two buttons are 1.25 ”, no maker , both with same photo and one adds his name ( w / Capt . rank ). This one has all but microscopic 1 / 16 ” craze line . The other button is NM . The mirror , also no maker , has 100 % silvering and includes his name , again with “ Capt ” rank . The mirror background has all over exceedingly faint pinpoint age dots . VF . The buttons are scarce and the mirror rare . ( H ) $ 100.00 472 . RARE DESIGN 1927 LINDBERGH POCKET MIRROR AND RARE MATCHING BUTTON . 1.25 ” button has no maker and neither does matching 2.25 ” mirror . On both pieces , his facsimile signature is across his flying jacket with rim text “ New York To Paris None ( sic ) Stop Flight ”. Button
has rim edge pinpoint brown age dots , but only four on the background around his photo . Surface has high gloss but also many tiny raised cello bumps . Fine . The mirror has near 100 % silvering . The cello has smooth surface indents left and right of his photo but totally clean with just light normal surface wear in reflected light . VF . Both rarely offered . ( I / J ) $ 200.00 473 . LINDBERGH ’ S PHOTO AND BOYHOOD HOME PAIR OF POCKET MIRRORS C . 1927 AND 1935 . Each is a 2.75 ” oval with real photo paper ( no dot screen ) under the celluloid . Earlier , c . 1927 , version has 97 % silvering and c . 1935 Hauptmann kidnapping trial souvenir version has 99 % silvering intact . Both versions have identical wording as : Col . Chas . A . Lindbergh ’ s / Boyhood Home , Little Falls , Minn .” Here are the differences : the early version has the text in a rectangle , all in caps . Later version has upper and lower case letters on light background panel across the lower full width . Early photo view is closer to house , later version has most distant shot . Early version has younger image photo on dark background while later has bit older Lindbergh image against a white background to make it stand out . In addition , we ’ ve seen both of these in vertical format , never before as horizontal . We did offer a variety in the last auction , a vertical , with Boyhood home on top and view below of Hopewell home showing kidnapper ’ s access via open second story window . 1927 version is VF and later c .
