Guide to the Union Guide to the Union 2012/13 | Page 4

Hey Glamorgan!

I’m Sarah Valkenborghs, your Vice President Student Support for 2012/13. I’m here to use my own student experiences to improve yours through offering you support and advice in a comfortable and confidential environment with any issues you may have including:

Education, Representation, Accommodation & Housing, Finance, Health, Liberation, Absolutely anything else that is affecting your time here at Glamorgan

Even if I’m not able to help or advise you myself I will put you in contact with someone who can.

I will also be representing you to the university on the Campus Watch committee, the Quality Assurance committee, the Quality Enhancement Committee, Academic Board, Academic Infringements Board and Academic Appeals Board. I will also be a member of the Women’s, Student with Disabilities, Black Student’s and Part-time Students student council committees.

My main aims this year include:

Increasing awareness and use of the Union as a support and

representation body.

Clarifying the university’s procedures and processes to students

(e.g. extenuating circumstances, verifications and appeals, etc.) through

a Student Support handbook.

Continuing to develop the Course Rep. and SLTA schemes.

Other than that I look forward to meeting you in September and welcoming you to the Glam life! Until then, take it easy and keep it real guys!

Sarah..x
