The program graduated its first class in the fall of 2021 . The next class is scheduled to start in September 2022 . Learn more at launchgarner . com .
The non-profit Garner Economic Development Corp . ( GEDC ) in fall 2021 announced the first students to receive scholarships to attend Wake Tech through the GEDC ’ s Endowment for Education . The scholarships enable at least one student from each of the two Garner-area high schools to attend Wake Tech at no cost for two years .
The GEDC also promotes youth entrepreneurship through the Garner Entrepreneurs of Tomorrow ( GET ) program . Local high school students work for several months to identify a business idea and craft a business plan , then they pitch their idea to a group of judges . As a reward for participating in the program , each student receives a laptop courtesy of the GEDC .
