Garner ’ s local economy has continued to boom , with robust commercial and residential development occurring throughout the community .
Developers have flocked to Garner in recent years to put up over 1.5 million square feet of new industrial warehouse and industrial flex buildings to meet demand . The new industrial space includes Garner Business Park 70 ( approximately 640,000 square feet ) and Beacon Commerce Park on Jones Sausage Road ( approximately 600,000 square feet ).
In May 2022 , Wycliff Development announced plans to transform a 225-acre site around U . S . 70 , White Oak Road and Timber Drive East into a mixed-use destination called E District . Wycliff said it is committed to creating a unique district with a mix of uses around themes of wellness , innovation and connection .
A hint of what could be included in that development came in August 2022 , when
WakeMed announced that it intended to build a 45-bed acute care hospital with 24 emergency department bays in the area around White Oak Road and Timber Drive East . The 170,000-square-foot hospital , if approved , is expected to open in fiscal
VA Outpatient Clinic Rendering year 2027 .
In December 2021 , investors announced a joint venture to redevelop INQ 4300 , a 180,017-square-foot building on U . S . 401 that was previously a big-box retail store . The property will be renovated to attract the region ’ s rapidly growing life science users , investors said .
Downtown Garner continues to be our town ’ s place for local flavor with the emergence of Aristotle Spirits ( 105 Rand Mill Road ) and Nana ’ s Lil Sweets ( 105 W . Main St .) to go along with other local food and beverage options in the historic commercial district . ( For more on Downtown Garner , see pages 18-19 .)
