Apparaissant par jeu de réflexion de la lumière sur le verre, le motif reconstitué “Coty’s philosophy: faithfully capturing the spirit and DNA of the fashion brands we work with” by Gaël Le Bourgès, Coty Luxury Packaging R&D Director It is inconceivable to apply technical know-how without understanding the brand’s history. Coty has a rich portfolio of brands which cover all segments of this market. Certain launches are positioned on the ultra- premium segment, others are designed to appeal to a wider public. Our approach focuses on transforming art into science to accomplish works of art just like François Coty did during his time with this same 360° vision. We are fortunate not only to work with major businesses from the world of fashion and jewellery, which have a rich history and strong identity, but also to have highly- expert marketing teams on-board which ensure these launches are successful. Let’s take for example the prestige edition of Bottega Veneta Murano, which is perfectly in line with François Coty’s wishes, as it draws its inspiration from craftsmanship for bottle design. We drew on the brand’s signature weaving, on the “intrecciato”, reproduced particularly on the well-known leather bags, to create a bottle which fully reflects the brand’s identity and codes. It was important for the Artistic Director of the time, Tomas Maier, to choose the nobility of Murano glass for the premium version of the perfume as well as for its variations. By analysing technique and craftsmanship, a hand-blown bottle was created with a milled bottom reproducing this rather unique checked pattern. Through play on the reflection of light on the glass, the reconstituted pattern which appeared meant the bottle had to be empty. The second line of thought addressed the issue of the tightness of the stopper placed on the ground neck. It is the first time ever that Murano has developed a perfectly-sealed glass stopper. These craftspeople have as such achieved an extraordinary feat by integrating these technical constraints. And, finally, to make the bottle perfect for this leather, Chypre-infused fragrance with its subtle woody notes,
