Board Highlights:
There have been many highlights in 2014. The
move of the Chamber Annual Banquet to May
and the change in the format created by the staff
was well received and fun. The creation of the
Building Cheyenne’s Future document and obtaining
endorsement by our community partners was a
great accomplishment and a valuable contribution
to moving Cheyenne forward. The origination of an
education committee to address the needs in our
community was a good beginning. Our support of
the military missions in our community has been
outstanding. I think everyone who participated
in the Chamber Awareness Campaign had some
fun promoting the Chamber partnership and the
importance of the role it plays in our community.
It has been great to have active board members,
committees, and members. We also have a talented
President and a great creative staff that enhances all
of our activities and events.
Chairman Challenges:
The biggest challenge is having the time and ability
to participate in all the many worthwhile activities
available during the year. There are so many
good opportunities to make a difference that it is a
challenge to make sure the available resources are
allocated to the right priorities. It is also difficult to
have the patience with how long it takes to make
progress on some issues affecting business.
Advice from the Chairman:
It is great to be involved and informed of the
opportunities and issues facing our community. By
being actively involved you can make a difference.
When we join together and each bring our views and
perspectives, we are stronger and have a powerful
voice to advocate for business. The key is to be
surrounded by great people who are willing to share
their talent and resources, establishing teamwork,
and doing what it takes to get the job done. I would
encourage our Chamber leaders to initiate plans to
keep the Board and members looking to the future,
informed, and engaged and don’t forget to have some
fun along the way.
