Spring means bowls

OSCA Clubs
Spring is well and truly in the air, and that means the bowls season is very much up and running. The Old Scotch Bowls Club is a social bowling club, and a vibrant OSCA club which warmly welcomes Old Boys and other Scotch Family members, who play in organised competitive midweek games.
The club has no greens of its own and does not play in the RVBA pennant competition. Several games per season are played among the club’ s own members and other old boy clubs.
One of the big annual events for the Old Scotch Bowls Club is its participation in the Public Schools Past Students’ Bowls Tournament, which was held earlier this year; and uniquely, Old Scotch fielded a father and son combination of Bob Bennett(‘ 55) and his son, Scott(‘ 81). Scott is the brother of another excellent bowler of a different kind: long-term Old Scotch Cricket Club champion, Gary Bennett(‘ 88).
Lawn bowlers in the Scotch Family of all standards are welcome to come and play the traditional game with us. For membership enquiries, please contact the Secretary, Greg Dougall on 9529 1276 or mobile 0419 529 127.
Golf Day

Great golf day – but trophy stays with Wesley

The magnificent Kingston Health Golf Club was the venue for the 2017 OSCA / Old Wesley Collegians’ Association Golf Day, this year hosted by OWCA.
An excellent Old Scotch contingent of 38, very well mustered by Leigh Dawborn(‘ 65) and Warwick Leighton(‘ 89), turned up to do battle with our traditional golfing rivals – but the Wesley old boys won the day and retained the perpetual trophy.
Individual par winner was Col Fraser(’ 64) pictured right, runner-up was Bruce Falconer(’ 61), and Mike Clayton(’ 72) took out the best scratch score.
