HOT CROSS BUNS AND MEDITATION - EMG ' S EASTER SERVICE

HYMNS , PRAYERS AND AN INSPIRING SERMON
Just under 100 East Melbourne Glen Chapter members and guests flocked to the Cardinal Pavilion on Tuesday 4 April , a beautiful , sunny autumn day , for the EMG Easter Service .
Director of Development , Tim Shearer (’ 85 ) introduced EMG Chairman , Ken Jasper (’ 55 ), who welcomed all attendees , including Scotch ’ s oldest known living Old Boy , 107-year old Bill Morgan (’ 34 ). Among the guests were the Principal , Dr Scott Marsh and Mrs Anna Marsh , former School Council Chairman David Crawford AO (’ 61 ), former maths and physics teacher and Registrar , David Scott ( staff 1948-98 ) and former OSCA Executive Director , Leigh McGregor (’ 55 ) and his wife , Ros .
Ken Jasper introduced OSCA Chaplain , Graham Bradbeer , who conducted the call to worship . Bible readings were by Dr
Marsh ( Matthew 28 : 1-20 ) and Ken Jasper ( 1 Corinthians 15 : 1-9 ).
Three traditional hymns were sung during the service , well accompanied by Steve Manders (’ 73 ) on the piano – Crown Him with Many Crowns , Amazing Grace and Thine be the Glory .
Graham Bradbeer ’ s inspiring sermon was entitled ‘ Faith and its difficulties ’. He spoke of four facets of faith – ‘ doubts , develops , delivers and delights ’:
Doubts – there are numerous examples of faith asking questions and seeking strength . Thomas the disciple is the patron saint of doubters .
Develops – the personal challenges of the Christian faith call for development of a new character – a kind of ‘ new man ’
Delivers – faith or trust centred on Jesus Christ delivers the challenge of a life based
on faith , hope and love . These were the central elements in Christ ’ s Passion .
Delights – in the end we will behold the face of the One who loved us with everlasting love , and gave Himself for us .
Graham concluded the service with a prayer and benediction . Morning tea of hot cross buns , chocolates , coffee and tea was the ideal way to conclude the service , as guests mingled and conversed .
It is hoped that the EMG Easter Service will return to the Littlejohn Memorial Chapel in 2024 .
The service was very well organised by Foundation Coordinator , Rebecca Mortimer , and Bequest Program Manager , Sandra Dick .
