Multi Bookbinding installs Muller
Martini KM610 Perfect Binder
Multi Bookbinding (Shawinigan, QC), Canada’s only hardcover
book trade bindery, recently invested in a Muller Martini
KM610 Perfect Binder. The company produces runs from 100
to 50,000 copies. “The main reason we upgraded is because
we’re seeing more requests for hardcover bookbinding from the
US,” said President Yvon Sauvageau. “And, since run requests
are getting shorter, we needed to shorten our makereadies
as well. The KM610 has cut our makeready times in half.” The
binder can accommodate Layflat and Swiss-bound binding
typically found in high-end products – such as coffee table
books and annual reports. In addition, although its average
run on the KM610 is 3,500 copies, Multi Bookbinding also
utilizes it for specialized year-
books with typical runs under 150
copies. Another benefit is its
signature recognition feature that
uses cameras to scan barcodes.
“As a bookbinder, signature rec-
ognition is a valuable tool, since
every printer uses it own barcode
system. The technology is a Multi Bookbinding
tremendous time saver that President Yvon Sauvageau
helps us meet deadlines,”
with the Muller Martini
KM610 Perfect Binder.
Sauvageau added.
