Ethnic or cultural issues

For centuries in India, there has been a caste system. They divide people their work, ethnic and gender.

Refugee problems

Too many refugees, many people are living in camps. Threat to national security due to their presence was out of the question.

Major conflicts both past and present

Conflict between India and Pakistan: In January 2016, six armed militants attacked an Indian Air Force base.

Territorial disputes over the Kashmir region sparked two of the three major Indo-Pakistan wars in 1947 and 1965.

By learning Indian background I could prepare to work as a delegate of India. I really thought that I needed to find ways to solve these problems. When I suggested solutions in JEMUN I always considered about these problems, Indian background, relationship with other countries and present situation.

My first suggestion for the topic(A),(B),(C),(D),(E) was like this;

(A). To ensure sufficient space in land certificates to enable listing of both husbands and wives as owners has a huge impact, leading to the inclusion of women in a majority of the land titles in the state is needed for the country.

(B). The National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) was implemented in India and aims to empower rural women by promoting their participation in the workforce through a quota: at least one third of all workers who have registered and requested work under the scheme in each state must be women. Moreover, the Act stipulates the payment of equal wages for men and women. Also, to support women more and more, India need to develop and promote labor saving technologies that enable women to work more efficiently.

(C). The national budget should announce a women farmer empowerment scheme, with four major components: capacity-building, infrastructure development for group activities, extending farmer support services to women farmers and access to financial resources.

(D). Building women’s social capital can be an effective way to improve information exchange and resource distribution, to ensure that women’s voices are heard in decision-making at all levels. For women who works in the informal sector, SEWA was founded in India with aims to organize groups with regard to service, access to markets and fair treatment. SEWA is pushing women’s groups a lot, so that the social capital gap in India will be small.

(E). The government should encourage application of biotechnology, remote sensing technologies, energy saving technologies, pre- and post-harvest technologies, and technology for environmental protection. Moreover, the government will undertake special measures for empowering women and also to build their capabilities for improving their access to inputs, technology process and other farming resources. Although, some problems are still remaining, technology gap is becoming smaller gradually.
