JEMUN 2018
My first goal in the conference was to make friends who have a lot of experiences, regardless of their country. At the beginning of the conference, we started to introduce ourselves, I thought this was a big chance to get to know each other. I talked with them, I knew their backgrounds a little bit. I made a promise to have lunch with them so my first action was a success.
Next, we had to present each country’s problems one by one, the atmosphere had changed, everyone listened to presentations carefully. I did my brief presentation with confidence because I thought that I researched about my country so much. When I made a speech, I tried to speak loudly, kept eye contact, did body gesture. That was a good opportunity to practice speech for me.
In next session, we exchanged our opinions and solutions for each country in small group. I realized that I don’t have much logical solutions and information about my country , compared to other students, especially foreign students who participated in other JEMUN conferences. I became a little bit nervous. I lost my confidence. I discussed with them, but my solutions were canceled because my solutions were not so useful, I had to admit it. Other Japanese student did not participate in discussion too, they looked like they did not have much solution, information , English skills and confidence. I felt that most Japanese are not good at such discussions especially in English. There was a gap between Japanese student and foreign students. Anyway,I could not do my best on day 1.
While I was in the bus to our hotel, I tried to refresh my mind by listening a music, I didn’t try to talk with other people, but one men from Miyazaki university who were in the same group talked to me suddenly. He said “Most Japanese in our group didn’t participate in discussion today, but you speak English well and discuss with foreign students, how did you do that !?”. His words bring a confidence to me again(I am a simple person.). I talked myself “ Although I made some mistakes I tried to discuss as a delegate of India. People always learn from mistake. I do my best tomorrow”. I talked with him, we became friends, we are still connecting through Instagram.
On day 2, I think I was able to provide some good solutions because I prepared well at last night. As a next task, we had to list our amendments up. In our committee, all of us didn’t know how to do that so we confused at first time, but we got our knowledge together, we cooperated well. At the night, in hotel, every our seminar students gathered in the same room. We talked about our personal things and our future. We were able to be good friends more.
On the last day, we completed our amendments, our task had done. After that, I received certificate of the conference that shows I made a big effort through this conference. Ms chair made speech about this conference. Many people cried and clapped their hands that was so memorable time for me too. I didn’t know that I can change a lot, if I cooperate with great people and push myself.
In summary, I learned many things through this conference,
Although I had some problems,I was able to be a better person,
this is because my friends, professors and my family’s
big support. People around me always take me to the
next stage so I also want to help them anytime. I am so
grateful for them.
