JENUN CONFERENCE

JEMUN 2018

ABOUT JEMUN

JEMUN stands for Japan English Model United Nations. Model United Nations is a simulation of a United Nations meeting. JEMUN participants include Japanese students, international students studying in Japan, and students coming from countries around the world. Approximately 450 students have attended each year. Each student represents a country on their own. In meetings, delegates try to solve global issues in English.

JEMUN's MISSION

1. To establish, strengthen and expand networks for international dialogue between students, educators, and businesses.

2.To organize innovative educational programs in English that foster students' academic and professional skills.

3. To choose conferences themes and meeting room topics that help students gain a deeper understanding of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals and the need for comprehensive and innovative solutions.

Participated in the JEMUN conference as a delegate of India. It was the

first time for me to work on one project with foreigners and other

university students. The theme of this year was "Healthy not Hungry".

My room's topic was "Closing the Gender Gap in Agriculture to Fight Hunger". To discuss

about the topic deeper, we subdivided this problem into 5 sections: (A). Closing the gap in

Access to Land, (B). Closing the gap in Labor Markets, (C). Closing the Financial

Service gap,(D). Closing the gap in Social Capital Through Women’s groups and

(E). Closing the Technology Gap.

Before I began to work as a delegate of India, I researched about the Indian government, people, development, economy, military and relationship between other countries. By researching India, I found some problems of India.

Four main problems that affect India

1 Education and skills: They struggle to find workers with right skills.

2.Health: Cardiovascular disease, cancer and chronic respriatory conditions.

3.Water scarcity: 21% of communicable diseases in India are related to unsafe water.

4.Gender: gender gap(money),violence , discrimination.
