ACE conference
ACE stands for Asia Community Engagement. The ACE Student Conference is a two-day conference open to university students from around the world. The purpose of the ACE Student Conference is to enhance mutual understanding and communication between university students through rich discussions and collaborative corporate problem-solving in English.
Usually, in ACE conference, some companies give student a topic to solve. In this year, there are three companies that we can choose in which company we want to work.(Mitsubishi Electric, Nankai railway and Panasonic)
Panasonic want us to come up with an idea of new product or project for elderly people to help their life, protect their physical and mental health by using high-tech devices.
I decided to work for Panasonic because I was interested high technology devices and products. Also, I was planning to apply for internship of Panasonic.
Before the ACE conference, I researched about Japanese senior citizens so much. I understood their problems, needs, community, tendency and health.
They want to do exercise, but their physical health is not enough to do hard work. Moreover, they were lack of community that they can communicate because most of them were far from family, some friends had already died, they can not go somewhere easily. I focused on these two problems.
On the first day, we gathered our information, but other university students did not know conference process so much, they did not research about the topic.
I suggested main idea, I want them to improve my basic suggestions and support each other.
We separated the job to make presentations more smoothly. We made presentation script, slides, advertisement. A person who studied money management think about costs and benefits.
Finally, we made presentation about "Robotic-gym". In there,
senior people can enjoy exercises with supports of robot.
Robotic-gym also have virtual reality machines, so users can
enjoy beautiful views even in safe indoor.
We were praised by executive officer of Panasonic. I really proud it.
It was first time for me to come up with an idea, consider how to sell products and make a presentation to people who work for a company.
This experience gave me confidence.
