3 This course is designed to provide the student with in depth knowledge of the regulations and laws governing special education as they relate to the classroom and families of exceptional students . Students will study history of special education laws , current court and due process hearing results and their current impact on the delivery of special education programs and services .
3 With constantly changing state and federal regulations regarding students with special needs , educators must understand guidelines that apply to the individualized programming of students with and without disabilities . This course expands on foundational topics , including the implementation of IDEA 2004 and the ADAAA , and transition to adult life . This graduate-level course incorporates theory and hands-on methods , techniques , and strategies for working with students with special needs . Field experience required .
