T
he Club Managers Association of
America’s 89th World Conference
on Club Management and Club
Business Expo was held in San Diego,
California from 21 - 25 February 2016.
The conference was attended by 11 GMA
Managers, including myself where I was
privileged to receive a bursary to attend
and represent Nudgee GC and Golf
Management Australia.
The conference featured a preview of the
latest products and services available
in the industry at the Club Business
Expo, and offered club management
professionals the opportunity to take part
in more than
70 educational sessions and peer
networking events.
There were many key takeaways from the
event - tangible, personal and professional
benefits coupled with industry networking
opportunities. We were also able to rub
shoulders with Club Managers from some
of the most renowned and respected
golf clubs in the world, including Augusta
National, Congressional Country Club and
Shinnecock Hills Golf Club to
name a few.
The educational topics covered all
areas of club management and were
structured in a manner to allow attendees
to choose the topic that best suited their
needs. Subjects ranged from corporate
governance, junior program development
to personal development, including
assessing your own mindset.
There were also key speakers engaged
to present to the 2500 strong conference
group of which all were exceptional.
However, Jason Dorsey was a standout
when addressing the fact that a lot of
what we believe about generations
is wrong.
