To begin, the amount of money spent by the government on drug trafficking regulation is absurd. It has done little to control America’s spending on illicit drugs from other countries. According to drugwarfacts.org, the government has spent 23 billion dollars in counter narcotics, but this has not had too much of an effect. Some would say that cocaine use has gone down by 50%, but at the same time, marijuana consumption has gone up by 50% as well. Due to government policies, it has not stopped the income of illegal drugs, but has only driven up the prices of black market narcotics; all this has done is help the trafficker’s profit bigger. The more money that goes towards unlawful drugs, the more money the American régime loses.
