Whats in My Child’ s Bag
Whats in My Child’ s Bag
A decent sized child backpack is essential- something that will accommodate ALL of your child’ s belongings- especially for toddlers and babies.
For older children a child sized backpack is suitable.
Essential:
• 1 x Child Sized Backpack for all their belongings.
• 1 x full change of clothing
• 4 x boxes of Tissues.
Babies / Toddlers:
• 2 x boxes Snuggler Nappies
Clearly Mark your child’ s name on all clothing and belongings.
A lost property basket can be found in the playroom. Please check it if you have misplaced anything. At the end of each year, the unrecovered contents of these baskets are donated to charity.
We do not mind if your child brings a soft toy or comforter to sleep with, but we do ask that these be clearly named and that you check that they are in your child’ s bag prior to going home- it avoids tears at bed time.
Toys should be encouraged to stay at home and look after the house. This avoids arguments, and sometimes broken toys and books.
What does my child need to wear?
Clothing should be easy to manage- children like to be independent and it can be frustrating when you have to wait for an adult to help. It is important that clothing suits the current weather conditions. Coats should be provided in winter.
For sun protection ensure that your child does not attend in tank tops or dresses without sleeves, or clothing that leaves the shoulders exposed.
Clothing should also be easy to care for- while we provide painting aprons etc. we can’ t promise your child’ s clothing will come home unscathed at the end of the day.
Shoes should provide good grip, be comfortable and be easily managed by your child- please no thongs.
Please ensure that everything is clearly labeled.
Sun Safe Policy:
Outdoors play is before 10.45 am and after 2pm- we encourage children to play out of direct sunlight and provide shaded areas for planned activities.
We ask you to supply a roll on sunscreen for your child with a minimum protection factor of 30 +. Please ensure your child ' s name is clearly visible on the sunscreen.
Hats
All children will receive a Cancer Council Approved“ bucket hat” with the centre logo embroidered on the front at the beginning of the school year. This hat will become your child’ s centre hat and belongs to you. Please ensure that you add their name inside the hat.
Parents should provide children with clothing which offers a high degree of protection from the sun – please no tank tops, singlets or sleeveless dresses.
Rest and Sleep:
During the afternoon we have rest time. Some children will have a sleep, some may just rest with a book on the cushions.
Some children may spend this time playing quietly with games, reading stories, playing on the computer, painting, drawing or constructing with craft.
