Engineeria is an international quiz contest which is organized by the CADD Centre, India. Competition for this year was held on the 2nd of December 2019 at the headquarters of CADD Centre in Chennai around 3.00 p.m. Two undergraduates from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya, W. M. R. K. Wijesundara and P. H. T. D. Weerarathne represented Sri Lanka under the Mechanical Engineering stream, while 3 other teams from Gujarat state, Kerala state and Tamil Nadu represented India. Each team consisted of two members. Three rounds were held in the competition where five general questions were asked in the first round. During the second round, questions were asked based on a picture related to Mechanical Engineering. Gujarat team had scored the highest marks by the end of the first round, but after the second round Sri Lanka was ahead obtaining the highest marks. The third round was much more competitive as negative marks were given for every wrong answer and a chance was given to the other groups to answer the unanswered questions. During this third round, most answers were given by the Sri Lankan team and they were able to walk off with victory, beating all the other teams, leading by 60 marks. Indian Rover Challenge (IRC) is one of the biggest international space and robotics events in the world. This competition gathers not only the specialists in planetary robotics and Mars rover designers but also represents science and business, the newtech sector and the general public interested in the development of science and new technologies. The main objective of IRC is to make teams compete in the tasks analogous to those performed by rovers on the surface of Mars and the moon. Teams representing universities from all over the world will participate in this competition which will be held from 17th to 21st January 2020 at VIT Chennai campus, Chennai, India. A team including members from the University of Peradeniya, University of Colombo School of Computing, University of Moratuwa, University of Ruhuna, IESL College of Engineering and Uwa Wellassa University will participate in this competition representing Sri Lanka. Kasuntha Madumal of University of Peradeniya is appointed as the Rover Team leader to lead the team comprising members from a number of universities in Sri Lanka.
