A Glance At Our Achievements “Shining like a star ...” Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya is the oldest Engineering faculty in Sri Lanka. In 1950, the faculty was established as one of the faculties of University of Ceylon based in the Colombo campus and was then shifted to Peradeniya in 1964. Earlier, there were only three departments in the faculty. They were the Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and the Department of Mechanical Engineering. But at present, there are five additional departments. They are the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, Department of Computer Engineering, Department of Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering, Department of Engineering Mathematics and the Department of Engineering Management. Over the past few years, both the undergraduates and the graduates of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya have gained a number of achievements bringing glory to the faculty, university as well as to our motherland, Sri Lanka. SLT robot battle 2019 which was organized by SLT with the INFOTEL 2019 was held at BMICH from the 1st to the 3rd of November 2019. Group stage matches were held on the first two days and the finals were held on the third day. Sixteen teams participated in this competition and they were the final 16 teams from Uwa Wellassa robot battle. This league included teams from University of Peradeniya, University of Moratuwa, SLTC campus, University of Vocational Technology, ICBT campus and University of Kelaniya. Among them, Team Scorpion from the faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya could achieve the second place. This victory was able to enhance the recognition of the university in the entire robotics industry. The team members who gained this achievement were Ruchira Thilan Munasinghe, Thilanka Gunarathne, Kalpana Ranasinghe, Prabath Ekanayake and Harshana Madushanka.
