Trekking Glacier
In 2014 I was named
photographer of the year at
the prestigious IPPA awards.
This photo was taken after
trekking seven hours across
the icy, windy Perito Moreno
Glacier. Originally I wanted
to take a panoramic photo,
but the glacier was just too
windy… I couldn’t keep my
hands steady. So I opted to
take a few quick photos.
While my guide was trekking
ahead I took this photo.
What I like most about this
is the perspective that the
silhouette of my guide
provides. He helps create a
sense of scale. In truth, the
photo doesn’t do the
environment justice.

Tahun 2014, saya meraih
predikat Photographer of the
Year dari IPPA Awards. Foto
ini diambil setelah berjalan
selama tujuh jam melewati
Gletser Perito Moreno yang
bersalju dan berangin.
Awalnya saya ingin mengambil
foto panorama namun karena
cuaca yang terlalu berangin,
tangan saya tidak bisa stabil
sehingga saya hanya bisa
mengambil beberapa frame
foto saja. Yang saya sukai dari
foto ini adalah gambaran yang
ditimbulkan oleh siluet
pemandu tersebut di mana
sosoknya mengilustrasikan
besarnya tempat itu. Jika boleh
jujur, tempat aslinya jauh
lebih agung dari foto ini.
