GOAL STATEMENT : Enhance the quality of life of our residents through community policing and crime reduction
OBJECTIVE 1 : Maintain traffic enforcement and education as a priority
Initiative 1 : Provide anti-texting training to students at both Garner high schools
Initiative 2 : Continue to emphasize DWI enforcement and education
Initiative 3 : Continue to use and publicize traffic enforcement campaigns on roadways with the most crashes
Initiative 4 : Utilize intelligence-led policing strategies and other innovative programs to reduce crashes and injuries
OBJECTIVE 2 : Integrate intelligence-led policing into resource management to assist in crime reduction
Initiative 1 : Continue to use field contacts through the Report Management System to document suspicious persons , vehicles , and incidents
Initiative 2 : Continue to partner with outside agencies in the sharing of intelligence on crime trends , suspects , and methods
Initiative 3 : Use intelligence-led policing resources to move personnel into highcrime and high-crash areas to help in the reduction of both
Initiative 4 : Continue to expand the business-watch program in new retail areas and work with the loss-prevention network on intelligence sharing of organized theft
OBJECTIVE 3 : Partner with community leaders and other Town departments to achieve community policing strategies and juvenile outreach
Initiative 1 : Continue to meet regularly with Town Planning and Inspections Departments to make recommendations for Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design ( CPTED ) improvements
Initiative 2 : Utilize the community liaison officer to seek out new community contacts and to seek input from them to help identify areas of improvement between the police and the public
