David Diebold Enters the Scene!
The history of David and how he reached over 10,000 followers is here!
Twitch evolves every day and only grows with so many people joining and wanting to become content creators. This feature story focuses on a communication major whose in his junior year of college. David Diebold is a content creator who has been working from Twitch since 2012. Diebold explained where he started and how he reached where he is now.
“That’s a bit of a story,” Diebold said. “Roll back to 2011 before I found twitch, I started on Youtube and I found Twitch through a minecraft letsplayer called ‘Kurtjmac’ and he’s walking to the edge of the minecraft world in the beta version. He ended up doing a live marathon which led me to Twitch. Then fast forward to late 2012 early 2013 I found the kerbal space program on Twitch. That's where I made some of my longest time friends in that community and the two people who inspired me to start streaming.”
Diebold continues...
Diebold then went into explanation of what his actual first stream was and how he built up his streaming career and community.
“My first stream I actually did was June or July of 2012,” Diebold stated. “I started streaming and being serious about Twitch in February of 2013. About two and a half years later I was partnered on Twitch on May 13th the Friday the 13th of 2016.”
The world is still having trouble adjusting to content creators going on platforms such as Twitch and making a career out of it. For most it is a struggle or a lost dream, but for Diebold it is a dream he continues to fight for.
“I would love for this to be my full time job if I could” said Diebold. “If we put it in tiers there is a full time tier and a hobby tier. I do not make enough to do this full time, but I would like too. I would love to get to a point where I can do this full time.”
Twitch does not just benefit content creators. It builds something that people can enjoy, it gives something for people to build. It gives viewers and content creators a relationship that can be created into a giant community. Diebold believes connecting with his viewers and friends is the best part of being a content creator.
“My favorite part about streaming is how you can engage with people on the fly,” said Diebold. “How you can go back and forth and have these engaging conversations off the cuff all while playing a game. Let me put it this way, You can engage with people from literally all over the planet with this platformer. I think that is what I love about it the most.” Diebold continued to explain that everyone in his discord that he built is apart of his community.
“Everyone in the discord is a follower and friend,” Diebold stated. “It is open to the public and listed twice in seperate places on my channel. I’d most definitely recommend posting a discord in peoples streams. It is one of the best ways to get involved with your community.”
