GAELIC SPORTS WORLD Issue 36 - October 17, 2015 | Page 23

The Gaels, wearing the Offaly-like green, white and gold of Liverpool Wolfe Tones, were not without class themselves though, with keeper Parcell saving wonderfully from Jenning’s effort at goal, but there was little she could do about Denise Gillian’s goal-bound shot moments later. Although Murphy put another score on the board for the Gaels, Tara responded immediately with Gillian capitalising on a fumble from Niamh Hansberry, collecting the loose ball and drilling a powerful effort in off the crossbar from outside the penalty area in what was undoubtedly the score of the game. And at 3-09 to 1-04, Tara still were not finished, with Gilligan rounding off the performance with the final point of the match. Displaying more efficiency and ruthlessness, there was no doubt Tara were the better side, but credit is due for Shire Gaels for coming such a long way in such a short period of time having only formed as recently as August.
