SOCIAL 9s FINALS
Bah Bah’s take Social 9s
BY CONOR O’GRADY
It was an action packed
night at Ian Galloway Park
in Wellington on Wednesday
December 3rd, with the concluding stages of the prestigious Social 9 Championship
on the ticket.
The semi-finals pairings
saw the Nail Guns taking on
Foggy Dew, and the Bah Bahs
against the Stitch Ups. Two
evenly match games ended
with victories for both the Bah Bahs and the experienced
Foggy Dew. The final was a very tight affair with both
sides having spells of dominance.
James “Jesus” Smyth continued his impressive run in the
Social 9s by drawing first blood with a great reaction goal.
Lead by Clooneyquin native Paul Clune, the Bah Bahs
tried to turn the screw and extend their lead in a tense
first half.

The second period produced some quality football from
both sides. Once the Bah Bahs gained the momentum they
were able to see the result home with a final score of 3-7 to
2-3. The Bah Bahs were a well drilled unit with Andy McBride playing as a sweeper-keeper, roaming from one end
of the field to the other. Eileen Foyle and Elaine Collins produced some great linkup play and the most impressive performer on the night, if not the tournament, was Chloe Peters
who showed a killer instinct when through on goals.
