AFD’s Prevention/EOD Canine Team
Continues to Build an
Exceptional Reputation
In FY2013, AFD’s Explosive Ordnance Detection
Canine Team continued as one of the best in the
United States. In addition to working numerous
special events at ATT Stadium and the Ranger
Ballpark our K-9 Teams were also requested and
deployed to other high profile events. These teams
assisted at the opening of the Bush Presidential
Library, US Supreme Court Justices’ visits and the
US Attorney General’s visit. They also assisted in
the investigation of the two Kaufman County DA
murder cases and other weapon and explosive
recovery efforts throughout the region. The team
consists of seven specially-trained handlers and
their EOD dogs. Sadly, we lost Hannah, one of our
EOD K-9s, and are awaiting her replacement to
become available. Jasper replaced Brickman, our
original EOD K-9, in April. Our two newest K-9
members, Jesse and Bo, came on board in early
August.
Our EOD team has made Arlington a much safer
place to live, work and play. They are especially
valuable in our Entertainment District and large
venue events.
