Strategic positioning keeps the Arlington Fire Department an inventive,
adaptive organization focused on the community’s needs. Performance, follow through, and
process management have helped the Department meet and exceed the expectations of
citizens and visitors in Arlington.
We partner with several local and national organizations to utilize and implement
performance standards. Those organizations include the International City/County Managers
Association (ICMA), National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS), National Fire
Protection Association (NFPA), National EMS Information System (NEMSIS), the Texas
Commission on Fire Protection Personnel Standards and Education, the Texas Department
of State Health Services, the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and
Education, and the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc.
(CALEA).
The Fire Chief has made performance measurements a critical aspect of organizational goals
and processes in order to ensure the Arlington Fire Department is able to evaluate, control,
budget, motivate, learn, and improve. Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) have been
developed, implemented, and segmented into four categories detailed on the following page.
