Special Events
The Office of Special Events (OSE) is staffed by a Battalion
Chief, a Captain and two grant-funded emergency planners.
OSE is responsible for working in partnership with the Police
Department and venue management to ensure the safety of
the public at mass gatherings. Specific functions include
ensuring compliance with ordinances, developing appropriate
public safety event action plans based on the characteristics
of the event and facility, coordinating an all-hazard approach
to venue safety management, creating and delivering specialized training for responders and
serving as the liaison with event management and other public safety groups.
More than 4.9 million people attended over 170
special events in Arlington in Fiscal 2012 at a variety
of venues including:
Cowboys Stadium
Rangers Ballpark
UTA’s College Park Center
Levitt Pavillion and several other City parks
Street festivals, run/walks and parades
