Arlington Public Library Celebrates 100 Chapters
In 2023 , the Arlington Public Library celebrated its centennial anniversary . On March 23 , 1923 , the first library opened in Arlington for the city ’ s 3,000 residents . From a collection of 500 books in the Farmers National Bank to 550,000 items , including books , audiobooks , ebooks , DVDs , digital photo collections , grant-funded kits and more , the Arlington Public Library has grown to seven locations and now serves 1.5 million people annually .

Additionally , the City will seek to provide programs and services to directly support youth and their families , enabling them to reach their highest potential in life .
Municipal Court ’ s GRACE Program Helps Middle School Students Learn Self-Confidence , Conflict Resolution and Skills for Academic Success
Dozens of junior high students took part in the Arlington Municipal Court ’ s mentoring program , which is designed to prevent truancy , school dropouts and juvenile delinquency . Students who sign up for or are referred to the GRACE program attend sessions with Municipal Court juvenile case manager Carolyn Johnson-Harris during the school day . Sessions include discussions , games and activities to explore selfesteem , conflict resolution and communication , or other social and personal issues that may be negatively affecting their home life and academic success . Students celebrated their graduation from the program with an end-of-year fashion show and high tea .
