FWYC Letter Log April 2017 | Page 5

George O’Malley has made a short video on YouTube which highlights FCYC (https://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=peoeUDd6Bsg). You might want to take a look at it to find out more. The Government Affairs commit- tee is asking that all interested mem- bers let their opinion be know about E15 (alcohol in fuel going to 15%)... there sho uld be information on how to do that in the office or the Bulletin Board.... you can always email me if you need something. Clubs are asking that if you are plan- ning to visit that you notify them in advance. Clubs are growing, their agendas and their docks are getting filled up... some may or may not be able to offer accommodations if you are traveling by RV. So the best policy is to call in advance and make your ar- rangements. There are a few legislative items that are going to affect us: The All Aboard Florida rail line expansion from Miami to Or- lando is moving slowly but it will ultimately have an effect on bridges etc. on the East coast S pring has arrived! With that we have a full month with races, regattas, and other fun stuff. We have two events this month to write on your calendar. Sunday April 9 is the Gener- al Membership meeting with a buffet to fol- low. Also, the following Sunday, the 16th, is our Easter Brunch. Please make reservations for Brunch as spaces fill up fast. Emails will go out with our menu and I am sure there will be flyers around the club. Tuesday April 4 will be the beginning of the one menu for all dining services (ex- cept Tuesday night and Sunday Brunch). We hope you like the expanded availability of items. We also begin lunch service on Thursday and dining service in the Lounge on Friday night with this new menu. We are expecting some new equipment in hopefully before this menu change, but if we do not, please be patient with us. If there is anything I can do for you just let me know. A recent notice suggested that because of low water in Lake Okeechobee : you should check before going that way... bridge and lock operations are affected. One place to check is http:// w3.saj.usace.army.mil/h2o/cur- rentLL.shtml ~Eric Mattiza A recent bill in the legislature would have prevented people un- der the age of 16 from operating a vessel over 10 ‘ in length.... that included sailboats – which would have been a disaster for youth sailing programs, high school sailing programs etc.... Fortunately that provision has been changed but there is still a restriction on operating a power boat … FCYC is actively opposing this measure and seeking to have the bill amended/changed... Will keep you posted. Look for the invitation packet on the Bulletin Board for the FCYC Pensacola Yacht Club Meeting 20 May... 5 P/C Tom Reynolds, FCYC Director [email protected] P/C Mickey LaGarde, FCYC Alternate Director [email protected]
