i, I see you are a new member of the Yacht Club. Which are you a sailor or a social member? That is the biggest problem
we face in our club. We must learn that both sailors and social members are important to the success and growth of our
yacht club. If not, we will continue to have problems in gaining new members and improving services offered. We must all
work together for the best interest of our club. We must consider new ideas and projects on the basis of will this benefit our
club, not worry about who will benefit. Fort Walton Yacht Club should be a place where every member feels welcome and is
a place they enjoy bringing their friends.

The Florida Council of Yacht Clubs
s many of you know, our Club is a member of the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs (FCYC). This means that YOU AND
EVERY REGULAR MEMBER ARE MEMBERS OF THE FCYC.... SO WHAT?? WELL KEEP READING.....This
membership keeps us aware of happenings in other member clubs, gives us an ear, and a voice, on what is taking place in the
legislature that may impact our Club. In addition, our membership in FCYC affords our regular members reciprocal privileges
at other member clubs.... the ability to charge your food and drink to your FWYC club number and one free night of dockage
at the various clubs. Many members travel by boat to some or all of the 36 Member Clubs … ask some of our cruisers about
that. But you can travel by car and stop in to any of these clubs (http://www.floridacouncilofyachtclubs.com/member_clubs.
htm) for dinner, a drink or just to see the sunset... [it is always a good idea to have your FWYC club card and/or a letter of
introduction... you can get one from the office Best to call ahead and get an idea of circumstances at the club and dress for
the day]. The Office has FCYC Cruising Guides which give you information and directions to the club(s) by land and sea...
The next 4 FCYC meeting dates and locations:
Pensacola Yacht Club ~ May 20, 2017
Naples Yacht Club ~ July 8, 2017
Bradenton Yacht Club ~ Sep 9, 2017
Fort Walton Yacht Club ~ Nov 11, 2017
We are going to have the opportunity to host the General Meeting in November this year. This will be the first time that Ft
Walton Yacht Club has had the chance to showcase what a great club we are. Planning is underway and we may be asking for
your help. There will be ± 100 members from other FCYC clubs visiting with us from Friday 10 Nov thru Sun 12 November.
I understand that some are planning to make the trip by boat... wow... Other clubs have a large group that comes for the good
times... Isles Yacht Club (Punta Gorda) had a large contingent at the last meeting which was at Venice Yacht Club.
Also, you
may want to go to a meeting in our area.... Pensacola Yacht Club is on 20 May (the next meeting)... see
what it is like, meet some great people from other clubs in Florida and have a good time. The general
schedule an informal dinner off the menu on Friday night business meeting starting at noon on
Saturday a speaker dinner and dancing on Saturday night. Pensacola is close enough that you
could drive over for the day.
Keep it in mind... I’ll post the meeting packet and registration information (you have to
register so that the club knows how many people to plan for) on the Bulletin Board
when we get it.
