I come up with realistic yet fun, creative ideas to boost sales such as a mini cake sale and that I find it easy to work with the people in my class because everyone pulled their weight and came together to pull off a successful pop up shop. My buying habits are not the most sustainable as I buy a lot each month to keep up with the last trend and then one quarter of that I end up not wearing (and it is laying in the back of my draw for years) or throwing away. Since learning about TRAID and studying sustainability and ethical trade I have found that my spending habits has cut back and I only buy an item that I have had my eye on for the last month or so.
If I was to do this project again I would have preferred to work in the buying group as it would have given me more in-depth knowledge in that section of the industry as I want to work in that area in the future. I found that being in the logistics group didn’t allow me to show my creative ideas seeing as I just created a time table for each group and had the idea to have a cake sale as well… Other than that, I wouldn’t have done anything differently.
I can donate more of my unwanted clothes to charity shops or sell it online if the garment is sellable. I don’t think one person can change the world to make it more sustainable, we all have a part to play to archive our goal- to live in a sustainable world that has ethical trade.
