ome 83 % of HSBC ’ s response pool for this year rates its overall service as Very Good or Excellent , the most generous being those respondents in the $ 10-100 billion AUM bracket . Operations and Middle Office services are the two areas where HSBC most shines in this year ’ s survey results . The latter , in particular has seen a big jump since 2021 . This category also records a relatively low standard deviation , suggesting that the mean represents the view of most respondents . According to the bank , one impact of the pandemic has been increased reliance on technology in the operating model . “ Onboarding of clients and investors for instance has increasingly required digital platforms with less reliance on traditional methods including age-old methods of sharing of original documents .” It adds that managers are looking to administrators for solutions that support further outsourcing of technology and operational infrastructure . “ Administrators are looking to meet this demand by developing advanced technology capabilities , either organically or at times through acquisition , spanning areas including data as a service solutions and digital onboarding and prospecting capability .”
HSBC is consequently investing heavily in technology , both with respect to capabilities that span its broader securities services business and other capabilities unique to the alternatives segment . Additional client comment is relatively sparse for HSBC , but what there is is complimentary . “ In our view , HSBC is absolutely an administrator in the top tier ,” says one European client .
