which the whole mankind is being healed and blessed. God’s
righteousness shows equal mercy on all. So David who committed a greater sin than Saul realized God’s grace and mercy
for him and changed his prayer.
Psalm 25:7 says, Remember not the sins of my youth, nor
my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me
for thy goodnes’s sake, O Lord.
and truth. In fact our God is full of grace and truth. So we all
can completely trust and believe in him without any fear. John
the disciple of Jesus has described of God’s grace and truth in
a very great manner in his gospel. The law is very great to hear
but it does not fulfill the righteousness of God. So only the
grace of Jesus will lead us into everlasting life and fulfill his
righteousness. David who realized this tuned his heart from
Law to Grace.
Here David is requesting God not to remember the sins or transgressions of his youth
But he wished for Saul that God would take out
his sword or bow and punish him. And prayed
that all his sins be upon him. But in his case, he
is shedding tears that God should not remember his sins. Now what is this righteousness that
David is claiming? We need to understand this
righteousness. If any person does any harm to
us, we will not rest in peace until that person is
also hurt. We believe in tit for tat which is our
way of judgment. But our God’s judgment is
different. If children make any mistakes, we ask
them to rectify. If they are hurt we care for them.
Likewise, God also is like a father to all of us. As
we love our children, God loves the whole world
with much greater love. He loves and forgives us
as his own children.
David is asking God once again to show
his grace and mercy on him. For this reason we
are supposed to read the Word according to the
changed situations and dispensation of time.
We should understand and analyse according to
God’s righteousness and not our self righteousness. We should always see only God’s righteousness. And we need more faith to see his
Abundant Grace. To see a judgmental God we
need a little faith but to see a gracious and merciful God we need a lot o
