Psalm 38:1-3 says, O Lord, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure. For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presseth me sore. There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin. Here David is pleading with God not to rebuke him. David is requesting God not to show his wrath on him and chasten him with displeasure. David feels that he is being punished by God. He feels that God is angry with him. So, is this quality of God true? Let us examine this through the scriptures. Why did David think in this manner? It was his sin which made him think of God in that manner. David who had an illicit relationship with Uriah’s wife also got him killed in the battle. Because of the sins that David had committed, he thought that God’s wrath was upon him. According to his knowledge of God it was true because righteousness is based on our faith and belief. Romans 1:17 says, For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith : as it, is written The just shall live by faith. When we are following God, our faith levels keep on increasing in our journey of faith. Likewise, our righteousness also keeps on increasing. The scripture says that when our faith increases a little then we are a little more aware of righteousness. It means that by our faith, our righteousness is manifested.
